February 15, 2025

How Smart Automation is Leveraging Output? Shefshet Demirovski, the Founder and CEO of ATS Group is leading an umbrella of defense brands that play a vital role in both National and International defense. Initially, Demirovski founded ATS Group with a mission to elevate North Macedonia’s presence in the defense manufacturing industry. Today, ATS Group consists of 4 key divisions:

  • ATS Ammo – Produces ammunition ranging from 9mm to 12.7mm in its factory located in Samokov.
  • ATS Engineering – Specializes in manufacturing full-cycle ammunition production machinery, ensuring self-sufficiency.
  • ATS Ballistics – Ballistic protection, including helmets, plates, and vests for military and law enforcement.
  • ATS Textile – European pioneer in UD materials for ballistic and automotive applications.

Investment in Innovation and Automation

Recognizing the exponential growth in demand and the global ammunition shortage, ATS Group has heavily invested in automation and custom-built machinery. To overcome the challenges of rapid recruitment and training in this specialized industry, the company continuously enhances its manufacturing processes, reducing manual labor and maximizing production efficiency. Now, ATS Group is extending this expertise to others, offering its advanced know-how to drive innovation across the industry.

Driving Economic Growth in North Macedonia

ATS Group is among North Macedonia’s TOP 10 exporters, with 99% of its production serving international markets. With exports reaching over 40 countries across four continents—Europe, Africa, Asia, and America—the company plays a pivotal role in promoting North Macedonia’s industrial capabilities. Additionally, ATS Group’s participation in major defense trade fairs strengthens its relationships with global defense ministries and institutions. The company employs approximately 500 workers, with 200 in Skopje and 300 in Samokov. As an industry leader, ATS Group’s expansion has contributed to job creation and economic development, helping put North Macedonia on the map as a key player in the defense industry.

A Key Player in NATO’s Defense Ecosystem

North Macedonia’s growing role in NATO has positively impacted ATS Group’s business opportunities. The company is now fully integrated into the NATO supply chain, with its products registered and approved for use in member states. This membership has opened new doors for ATS Group, enabling it to compete on a larger scale and secure contracts with NATO allies.

Future Expansion Plans

Last year, ATS Group established a presence in Texas, USA, and is now finalizing preparations to open an office in London. The company is actively pursuing acquisitions in the defense sector to accelerate growth and strengthen its market position. Its workforce is expected to reach 700 employees, with 450 based in Samokov alone. By 2026, ATS Group plans to expand further with new manufacturing investments across multiple continents.
